Time spent walking, observing and just being in nature is central to my artistic practice. The landscape of Huntley Meadows Park and the seasonal changes in textures, light and colors draw me back again and again.
The combination of loose torn collages of color with the precise dark lines and shapes of black and white photos creates opportunities for surprises as I combine elements to create each piece.
In some ways the collages evolve much like the landscape with emphasis shifting as I add new layers in a way that mirrors the shift in focus as light, color, and new growth change the natural scenery.
The act of creating is a way for me to savor, celebrate and share what I see.
